Edward is a Partner and leads our Farms, Estates and Rural Land team.

Edward has extensive experience in a wide range of litigation including commercial litigation, professional negligence claims, property and regulatory-related disputes. He has acted for public bodies, banks, institutional clients, companies, charities, landed estates, partnerships and private individuals. Edward has a particular interest in the opportunities in natural capital markets for landowners.

Edward’s experience includes:

  • Acting for a group of landowners who had land caught in a new Site of Special Scientific Interest.
  • Regularly acting in a wide range of partnership disputes eg acting for a high net worth individual on a £20million farming partnership and property dispute involving complicated ownership structures, estoppel claims and tenancy issues.
  • Advising landlords and tenants on issues relating to agricultural tenancies.
  • Acting for a leading bank’s receivers on the sale of a farm.
  • Acting for a solar operator looking to secure vacant possession of a site which was occupied by an agricultural tenant.
  • Settling a long-running family dispute involving a proprietary estoppel claim being made over our clients’ entire farm.
  • Acting in property disputes including successfully defending a right of way claim at trial and then on appeal.

With the aim of giving high quality commercial advice, he carefully listens to the client’s aims and concerns at the outset and then develops a clear strategy to resolve the dispute they are dealing with.

Outside of work he’s not sailing or playing golf, Edward spends most of his free time providing a taxi service for his son!
