Career & Experience
Eric is a Partner in our Energy, Projects, Infrastructure & Construction team. He is a construction and engineering lawyer with over 25 years’ experience advising on the legal aspects of major construction projects. Acting for public and private sector clients, developers, utilities, funders, contractors, specialist subcontractors and consultants on complex high-value projects has exposed him to all elements of construction contracts using bespoke contracts, NEC, JCT and other main standard form contracts and related professional appointments, bonds and guarantees.
His experience encompasses construction procurement advice and contract negotiation, PFI transactions, management of claims during construction and the resolution of disputes. He is recognised for providing pragmatic and commercial legal advice from project inception through to an asset’s operational life, as an integral part of the project team delivering successful projects.
Eric has unique UK in-house experience as the Legal Director of BYLOR Joint Venture, the main civil works contractor responsible for delivering over £2.8billion of civil engineering and structural works for the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station. This insight has enhanced Eric’s ability to advise clients as part of their team with first-hand knowledge of the practical challenges of collaborating in long-term project and workstream relationships, including supply chain management and stakeholder engagement.
The key sectors in which Eric has worked include energy, water & other infrastructure and a broad range of commercial and residential property developments, including large student accommodation schemes.
Outside of work, Eric enjoys a road trip to lakes and mountains in an enticing culinary landscape but is more likely to be driving his teenage children between sports fixtures, concerts and theatre performances. His passion for Everton FC is his own form of endurance sport.
