We want to make it as easy as possible for you to apply to train at Foot Anstey. Our application form is straightforward and simple and ensures you have plenty of contact with us along the way. As always though, please make sure you take time to thoroughly consider your answers before hitting submit!
Read the below information about our process and some top tips from our recruitment team to make sure your application is the best it can be.
Top tips
Spell check. It sounds obvious, but we cannot overstate just how many applications and CVs have spelling mistakes. Accuracy is important in law and this is something you will be assessed on.
Take your time. You have one opportunity to apply each year, so take your time and make sure it is your best application.
Research us. Showing you understand our business will always impress us. As two of our three application questions relate to us, it is vital to demonstrate an interest in the firm.
Structure your answers. In our three questions we ask for up to 400 words. We are not looking for one word answers! We are looking for well thought out and structured answers.
Don't leave it too late! We opened our applications in October, so we will only have so much sympathy when your internet crashes at 11.59pm on the deadline day!
Don't be afraid to ask. If you want more information or some guidance give us a call or send an email. We are always happy to speak to you.
Check with a friend. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can spot a glaring mistake.
Spell check. We did say we cannot overstate it!
What's the process?
Upload your CV. It is highly likely you will already have a CV, so rather than get you to enter all your education and career history into text boxes, just spend 5 seconds uploading the document.
Now answer a few basic questions to help us understand what route you want to take and when you want to start with us. Remember, you can apply for a place on either the Vacation Scheme or the Training Contract Assessment Days. You can’t apply for both so choose the best option for you.
We have three questions for you, each requiring no more than 400 words. These relate to your commercial acumen, analytical ability and personal achievements. We are not just recruiting trainees; we are recruiting solicitors and hopefully investing in our partners of the future.
Complete our voluntary questions relating to diversity, inclusion and social mobility. We are proud to have been awarded the National Equality Standard and are wholly committed to building an inclusive firm. These questions help us gauge our performance and we encourage all candidates to complete the questionnaire.
Once you have applied you will receive an immediate acknowledgment that we have received your application. We don’t keep you hanging on for months either and will respond to all applications within 2 weeks of the closing date.
If you are successful, you will be invited to a video interview. This is our chance to speak with you and get to know you! It’s your chance to do the same! Good lawyers build strong relationships with their clients, so it’s a great opportunity for you to demonstrate how you would speak to us, not to a computer!
We’ve read you application and met you at the video interview. If you’re successful, now it’s time to join us either on the Vacation Scheme or Training Contract Assessment Day and show us what you’re all about and can bring to the firm!
