Foot Anstey has bolstered the ranks of its Energy, Projects, Infrastructure & Construction (EPIC) team with the arrival of Eric Livingston - a highly experienced construction and engineering lawyer.

Eric joins Foot Anstey as a Partner, in a move back to private practice from his role as Legal Director of BYLOR Joint Venture, the Bouygues and Laing O'Rourke JV delivering the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £2.8 billion. Eric was embedded in the project delivery team giving him unique in-house experience.

Prior to taking the helm of the legal function at BYLOR JV, Eric was Head of Construction at Thrings.

Recognised by Chambers UK legal guide as “a highly experienced and well-respected figure", Eric’s experience in construction and engineering spans decades, encompassing construction procurement advice, PFI/PPP transactions, management of claims during construction and dispute resolution. He has acted for all parts of the supply chain, from lenders, developers, utility companies, energy suppliers and project companies to contractors, subcontractors, and professional consultants, across a range of construction and engineering projects.

Martin Hirst, Managing Partner at Foot Anstey, said, "It’s a pleasure to welcome Eric to Foot Anstey. His profile and impressive track-record in the construction and engineering space will make him a fantastic asset. His deep expertise will allow us to significantly enhance our offering for energy and infrastructure clients."

Eric is based in Bristol and will join Foot Anstey's Real Estate Group, working alongside Patrick Wetherall (Partner, Head of Real Estate Group) and Ian Stubbs (Partner, Head of Energy and Infrastructure Sector).

Ian Stubbs said, "We're very excited to have Eric join the team at Foot Anstey. Eric has a wealth of experience, as well as a particular expertise with delivery of major projects such as Hinkley Point C, which perfectly complements our existing teams and our Energy and Infrastructure sector focus. Eric's arrival will further strengthen Foot Anstey's offering of exceptional service, powering our clients' ambitions in the built environment."

Eric Livingston said, "I'm very much looking forward to joining Foot Anstey and working alongside Ian and the dynamic and talented EPIC team. The firm stood out to me for its industry reputation and client-centric approach. Joining the partnership is a fantastic opportunity to return to a wide variety of construction projects, and I'm eager to work with the team on their ambitious growth strategy."
