Foot Anstey to host the first in-person South West Fraud Forum conference

National Law firm, Foot Anstey, is set to host the first in-person South West Fraud Forum (SWFF) conference at its Bristol office.

The conference aims to help regional businesses and industry changemakers to understand and combat the risk posed by fraud.

Steven Richards (Head of Fraud) and James Gliddon (Partner) at Foot Anstey are co-chairs at SWFF and will be speaking on the day at different points. Steven will be welcoming attendees and introducing the event and James will be joining business leaders and professionals on the panel debate in the afternoon.

This event will also include a keynote speech from Chair of the Fraud Act 2006 and Digital Fraud Committee, Baroness Nicky Morgan. Nicky chairs the East Midlands Institute of Technology Board and the Advisory Board of the Reform think tank.

Also speaking will be Detective Chief Superintendent Matthew Bradford, Head of National Lead Force Operations, City of London Police and Dr Henry Hillman, Lecturer in Law at the University of Reading, specialising in financial crime, cryptocurrencies, and commercial law.

Commenting on the event, Steven Richards said: "The Committee's recent report on fighting fraud has led to comments that the "the UK has retreated from the fight against fraud". I am interested to hear from industry leaders at this event on how together we can change that perception and share insights on how business can further strengthen their response to fraud. This is our first in-person SWFF and it looks to be a really interesting and valuable event"

Echoing Steven's comments, James Gliddon said: "As a not-for-profit, the SWFF brings together law enforcement, public sector, academia, industry and professional services – with the objective of providing a space for our members to gain awareness of latest developments in fraud prevention/response, share approaches and connect professionals, businesses and organisations who all contribute to the fight against fraud. This event, with its fantastic speakers, demonstrates the importance (and breadth) of the issues and the SWFF welcomes attendees to reflect on the challenges that businesses and individuals face in the region."
