What's in this episode?
In our first episode of our new season focusing on the impacts and opportunities of Natural Capital, we discuss the options available for farmers and other landowners interested in using their land for environmental projects.
Farming is currently going through a transition away from the old Basic Payment Scheme to Environmental Land Management Schemes, that rewards farmers for producing environmental goods.
In this episode, we are joined by the NFU Energy Sales & Marketing Director, Lisa Howkins. NFU Energy provides advice and support to businesses with a special focus on agriculture and horticulture. They work with government departments, industry organisations, utility companies and manufacturers and provide advice to clients on energy management and renewable energy solutions for their businesses.
Our experts discuss why farmers should consider funding environmental projects on their farm and the types of projects available. There is also discussion on the challenges farmers may face with these projects and how specialist advisers, such as NFU Energy, can help overcome them.
They examine the funding and grants available to landowners, both from government and traditional lending and give some top tips for farmers and other landowners interested in environmental projects.
